10years self-portrait has begun on 7/1/99.
Since then every morning the artist takes a picture of me at the moment of waking up and that'll be my routine for ten years. that picture reveals last night's dream and contains the realm between the conscious and the unconscious. The images are, not exaggerated, honest, shocking, and unfamiliar.
I show the images, which I don‘t want to show as a woman and they are confidential communication with myself.
The audiences feel confused and familiar when they look at the half-awake image.
It creates viewers, involvement.
The photographs, which were taken as soon as they got up, were sent by e-mail and displayed with my homepagewww.10yearsself.comthis repetitive activity of everyday life like taking pictures of one‘s waking moment shows that everyday is a different day, and that put us a question of the repetitiveness of everyday life.
One photograph in a day, 30 photographs in a month
30 frames are needed in a second in the Premiere.
If I use one photograph, which is one day's work,
one month becomes one second. one year becomes 12 seconds so ten years become 2 minutes
In this video project, I collected 3 years of work (become 36 seconds)
Even though this is a long time, my work is shown in a very short time period.
I also collected the sound every day and used them in each frame.
The outcome of this collection of sounds becomes very grotesque.
One day is separated from other days, and also the sound.
In the end, this project shows the 'separated times in a continuation'.
